GUILLERMO DEL TORO DOES IT AGAIN!!!

Very excited to see Guillermo Del Toro is at it again with a new horror film he wrote and produced.  Directed by an unknown, Troy Nixey, I was a little disappointed Del Toro himself wasn't directing this, but pretty much anything he is involved in turns out good, and he did write the script for this one.  Although it is a remake of a 1973 film, it looks scary, and guess what?  It's another ghost story through a child's POV.  Kids in scary movies increases the scare factor.  Maybe it has something to do with taking us all back to that time and place where dark closets and creaky houses put the fear into us, I don't know, or maybe it's just when we see a malevolent demon chasing a child we are forced to view what unfolds through hands covering eyes, as if this would protect us!  The original doesn't really stand up to the tests of time, and although I sometimes feel doing remakes of old horror films is just an excuse for a lack of ideas coming out of the Hollywood pipeline, this is definitely something to look forward to in August 2011!
